Treat the earth and all of her aspects as your mother. Show deep respect for the mineral world, the plant world, and the animal world. Do nothing to pollute our Mother, rise up with wisdom to defend her.

Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that issued the 32-volume, 2,610-page report. Climate change will worsen problems that society already has, such as poverty, sickness, violence and refugees, according to the report. And on the other end, it will act as a brake slowing down the benefits of a modernizing society, such as regular economic growth and more efficient crop production, it says.

Made It to New Week - Earth Day

It's Monday of a new week.  But not just any Monday, it's Earth Day - April 22.  We went through a week of death and destruction to emerge on a day focus on saving the Earth.

We save the Earth - We save one of our most important resources. Save our children just as we work hard to save the the great American bison, a story of an animal that was almost wiped out until public and private conservation efforts came to the rescue.

Once considered “ecosystem engineers” – animals that profoundly affects their environment and all species living there – bison altered the prairie ecosystem by carving pathways and creating wetlands by wallowing and trampling. They fertilized the vegetation and provided food for hunters and scavengers. Birds, prairie dogs, coyotes, wolves and pronghorn antelope all thrived in a land sculpted by millions of bison, roaming free.

Picnic for Earth - Is  part of our All Hands on Earth campaign, we’re asking millions of people all over the world to spend the whole month of April— Earth Month— thinking about where their food comes.

Picnic for Earth is a celebration of the planet we live on, the food it provides and the people we share it with. In short, the planet does a lot for us, and we should take it out for lunch.

The Earth is patchwork of gardens. All the land on Earth currently being farmed is equal in size to South America. The land currently being grazed by the world’s livestock is the size of Africa.  The world population is expected to reach 9 billion. To continue to have enough to sustain us, we will need to double our food production.
