Report: Facebook is the only shrinking social network

Report: Facebook is the only shrinking social network

Do you have a Facebook account?  Facebook and I parted ways.  The social media is very invasive asking for too much personal information.  11/2011 it was reported that the social networking service Facebook has agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it deceived consumers by telling them they could keep their information on Facebook private, and then repeatedly allowing it to be shared and made public. http://ftc.gov/opa/2011/11/privacysettlement.shtm   Only 15% of Americans say they share "everything" or "most things" online, lower than the world average of 24%.

Huffingtonpost.com has numerous stories of Facebook being hacked. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/news/facebook-hacked  While Facebook is not alone in falling victim to hackers, I am not required to provided so much personal information. The minimum amount of information required to create a personal Facebook account is a first name, last name, valid email address, password, gender and birth date.

According to MSN Money, "While the social media network trumpets its 1 billion users, new research indicates about 100 million of them could be dogs, brands or even toasters." in the  Millions of Facebook's users are actually pets article.  http://money.msn.com/now/post.aspx?post=a95315e6-96b6-4b98-8e8c-c431739eda9c

In March 2011, a Michigan man was charged with polygamy after he shared photos from his second marriage on Facebook. Anything You Say on Facebook Can & Will Be Used Against You in a Court Of Law http://blogs.lawyers.com/2011/11/anything-you-say-on-facebook-can-will-be-used-against-you-in-a-court-of-law/

Teens build electric car powered by Twitter, Facebook posts

    Brücke-Osteuropa
For this year's project, #Minddrive decided to set a higher bar by challenging the students to build a car powered by tweets and Facebook posts.  In the past several years, Minidrive has converted three other vehicles to EV, then taken them on cross-country drives.

Starting with a busted 1967 Karmann Ghia, the 21 students from five Kansas City-area schools stripped the car to the bare metal, then rebuilt it, swapping the original Volkswagen engine for a lithium-ion battery pack and electric motor.

All you have to do is a random act of kindness and hashtag #minddrive on Twitter in all your tweets.

NOW WE NEED YOUR SOCIAL VOICE TO FUEL US FROM K.C. TO D.C., WHERE WE HOPE TO DRIVE CHANGE IN EDUCATION. Check the Social Watts

    Fox News host Andrea Tantaros

"....And a lot of people voted for him (Obama).”  “And if you see any of those people today, do me a favor, punch them in the face.”  Fox News host tells listeners to punch Obama voters ‘in the face’

This must be America with freedom of speech.  So this Memorial Day weekend will the trending story be the number of fights between Obama voters and the person attempting to "punch them in the face?"   I guarantee there are Obama voters who will defend themselves to the death.  Is this what Ms Tantaros is purposing? - Violence in the street. People 'standing their ground.'

Wow hope there's plenty of law enforcement out this weekend.  There's always one loyal listener who will blindly follow Tanaros word for word and get more then his feelings hurt.  Don't bother with Obamacare. Send all medical bills to Andrea Tanaros c/o Fox News!

STOP Act: West Point staffer accused of secretly filming women in the shower

Update:  West Point staffer accused of secretly filming women in the shower  Protect wives, mothers, sister, daughters.....

If you thought the sexual assault crisis in the military couldn't get worse, it just did. A soldier who helps train new recruits at West Point is being investigated for making secret videos of female cadets. This comes on the heels of the arrest of Air Force Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski, who was head of the Air Force's sexual assault prevention program, being arrested and charged with sexual battery. Krusinski drunkenly “approached a female victim in a parking lot and grabbed her breasts and buttocks."

    Hi,

Sexual violence in the U.S. military is a crisis.  The Pentagon estimates that sexual assaults increased from 19,000 in 2011 to 26,000 in 2012.  That's 71 sexual assaults EVERY DAY, and in roughly 56% of cases, the victims are men.

Making matters worse, each branch of the armed forces has its own judicial system.  It's currently legal for base commanders to overturn a jury's guilty verdict, as happened at Aviano Air Force Base in February 2013.

The STOP Act takes the prosecution, reporting, oversight, investigation, and victim care of sexual assaults out of the normal military chain of command -- which has proven grossly ineffective -- and places jurisdiction in an autonomous Sexual Assault Oversight and Response Office.  Join us to help pass it.

That's why I signed a petition to The United States House of Representatives and The United States Senate.

    Kidnapper Ariel Castro

After days of media coverage regarding the return of three women whose lives were stolen, there's still so much not known. The suspect, Ariel Castro is already charged with four counts of kidnapping — three for the women he is accused of abducting and one for a baby that one of the women gave birth in captivity.

The mother of the child is Amanda Berry.  Out of all the pregnancies  her's was the only one that came to term.  Castro threatened to kill Michelle Knight if the baby died.
    Ariel Castro mugshot

The bizarre fact is that Gina DeJesus was the BFF of his daughter.  Castro lured each of the women between 2002 and 2004 by offering them rides. Did DeJesus recognize the father of her best friend and trusted him to take her home safely?     It emerged that Mr Castro had joined the searches for the girl he had abducted on her way home from school. Gina, then 14, was the best friend of Castro’s daughter Arlene. An accomplished guitarist, Castro performed at a benefit concert held in her honor and was even said to have been seen comforting Ms DeJesus’s mother at a vigil last year.

According to court documents, Ariel Castro was accused of repeatedly threatening to kill his wife and daughters. Mr Castro was accused of seriously wounding Grimilda Figueroa, his former wife, "and repeatedly "abducting" his children" in a domestic violence case brought against him in August 2005. Grimilda Figueroa blood clot to the brain,  twice suffered a broken nose, had both her shoulders dislocated and her ribs injured, the court documents said, in addition to a "knocked out tooth" and "lacerations".

Ariel Castro beat Michelle Knight so badly that she miscarried all her pregnancies. She remains in the hospital because of years of beatings that even resulted in hearing loss. Castro seemed to have beaten Knight as badly as he did his wife.  He threatened to kill Knight throughout those years.

Student Loans - Something Needs to be Done

Take a survey about student debt, put together by our friends at One Wisconsin Now & Institute.  The response so far has been amazing, however, we still need your input!
Some of the insights we hope to ascertain from this project include:
    • How is the trillion-dollar student debt crisis affecting a household’s purchasing ability?
    • Are student loans affecting auto and home ownership?
    • How about savings for retirement, or for the next generation’s college?
    • Are there opportunities to change the way we finance higher education?
    • Do we need a way to alter the existing debt structure on student loans?
If you haven't already taken the survey, please take a few minutes of your time to complete it by clicking here:

    https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/StudentLoanSurvey2013
After taking the survey, please share it with friends, family, neighbors and co-workers via Twitter, Facebook & email.

If, after taking the survey, you feel that your story is not adequately captured by the survey, feel free to email your specific story to:
Just a few minutes of your time will be a huge boost for our shared fight to raise awareness and develop real solutions!  The survey is completely confidential and no personally identifiable information will be collected.
Thank you for all you do and for your help on this critical research project.
    Sincerely,
    Robert Applebaum
    StudentDebtCrisis.org

P.S. Please, take just seven minutes to fill out this confidential, anonymous survey. You’ll help us get the information we need to keep making the case that student debt reform demands immediate attention and real solutions from state and national policymakers.

As this year’s seniors graduate, please join Student Debt Crisis and other organizations and stand in solidarity with students and families struggling with student loan debt by wearing a special ribbon during the commencement season.

Let us know if you can put on a ribbon, snap a photo of yourself wearing it, and send it in by clicking here.
If Congress doesn’t act by July 1st, the interest rate on federal student loans will DOUBLE, costing more than 7 million students $1,000 more per loan, per year.

Let’s work together to put a human face on student loan debt, and to make sure access to higher education remains a priority for the students oftomorrow by raising awareness about the burden of loan debt today.
We’re collecting photos of borrowers, students, and families wearing the ribbons to put a face on student loans and to encourage Congress to stop the rate hike.
Learn more and download your ribbon by clicking here.
Thanks, and congratulations to this year’s graduates!

    Sincerely,
    The Student Debt Crisis team

Fire at Nathan's Famous in Coney Island

    Attribution: J. Reed
How disturbing to read there was a fire at the Nathan's Famous!  The landmark restaurant was damaged after Hurricane Sandy as was most of Coney Island and the New Jersey shore.   That Super storm caused for the first time in 96 years "Nathan's" on Stillwell Avenue to closed.

The original Nathan's restaurant stands at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in the Coney Island neighborhood in the borough of Brooklyn. As kids in the 1980's we'd jump on the F train for the ride to Coney Island for the boardwalk, and Nathan's hot dogs.  Nathan's was the first place I ate fried clams.

The french fries had its own special crinkle cut. How serious are customers about the french fries? Serious enough for the New York Daily News to exclaim, Say it ain’t sow! Nathan’s changes its famed Coney Island fries  A shortage of a beloved Maine potato forces a temporary shift to inferior Russets.  Fans of the crispy-yet-soft fries noticed the change immediately.  Nathan’s Famous Potato Change Leads To French Fry Hysteria  Many Say They Can Taste The Difference, But Spokesman Assures It's Temporary, stated CBS, New York.  As kids before pay day, when we couldn't afford a hot dog, you could be satisfied with the best french fries.

The thought of Nathan's brings fond memories of getting summer jobs as camp counselors in Coney Island.  What was better than being at the beach everyday, and getting paid.  Nelson Rockefeller once proclaimed, "No man can hope to get elected in New York state without being photographed eating hot dogs at Nathan's Famous.

When you have a Nathan's Famous hot dog and french fries, you know you're having the best. Nathan's Famous, an New York Tradition! We have so little left from our youth, we hope Nathan returns.
